Importing Images

Importing Images

When importing your products from another connected source (e.g. Shopify), or via the import/export spreadsheet function, you can choose to import the images

Requirements

  1. Your spreadsheet should have a column labelled 'Image URL' or similar
  2. That column should have an image url against each product - single, variation (and optionally variant) e.g. https://cdn.shopify.com/images/sfvbkjasv7jnasfgu74.jpg
  3. The image url should be independently accessible via a browser tab, showing the image you expect

Caution

When importing from a third party hosted url, it is up to that third party how quickly the data will be passed to Shopit, if indeed at all.

This can mean that:
  1. The image may be blocked from being passed altogether - please upload manually
  2. Your Products page thumbnails on the Products Overview page do not immediately show
    1. When opening the product editing page, the images will be visible (if successfully imported) - opening this page force populates both the thumbnail and the front end website

Image Specifications

Images play a huge role in both the customer experience of a website (make them look beautiful and rich!), and also in the speed of the site (make them small and simpler!).

To help, Shopit recommends the product images have:

  1. Dimensions where the height/width is maximum of 2000 pixels
  2. Dimensions that are square
    1. whilst not necessary at all, square images are easier to work with on mobiles and desktops, and also in many templates
  3. No bigger than 4MB in size

We currently accept jpegs, jpgs, and pngs for images.
