Product Visibility Statuses

Product Visibility Statuses

Shopit gives you the ability to automatically set the default status of an item according to its stock level.

There are two statuses where you can set a product's visibility are:
  1. When in Stock
  2. When Out of Stock
The visibility statuses to choose from are:

Website Status
 Status on CSV import
Notes
Active and Purchaseable
purchasable
available to view and buy
Active and Unpurchaseable
unpurchasable
available to view but not buy.

Often used when an item is pre-launch, out of stock, or restricted
Disabled and Hidden
disabled
A temporary status when the product is not available to view or buy
Permanently Unavailable and Hidden
unavailable
a permanent status when the item is not available to view or buy

Therefore a product will have 3 statuses in total, across 2 cells, in the Shopit database e.g.

  1. Visibility Status: purchasable
  2. Sold out Status: disabled
  3. When back in Stock: unpurchasable

Which would look like this on the CSV:

Visibility
Sold Out Status
purchasable
disabled/unpurchasable

Here:
  1. The item's normal status (today) is (active and) purchasable.
  2. When it's sold out, it will revert to disabled and be hidden from the site user
  3. When back in stock, the status will be (active and) unpurchasable - because you need to check back orders etc before making fully purchasable again.
