Test Transactions

Test Transactions

If you would like to test some transactions (and see how an Order looks, and the emails that are sent to customers), follow these steps to set up the demo gateway account

Add the Test Payment Gateway Settings

  1. Go to page Settings > Payment Gateways
  2. Click on Enter Credentials
  3. Select the Sales Channel you want to test on
  4. Enter any customer facing text (suggestion: include the word "TEST")
  5. Use our public test credentials:
    1. Enter Merchant ID: rmstester
    2. Shared Secret: secret
    3. Account: internet
  6. Redirect Domain: enter your domain (if you have already verified and directed it) or enter website1.{youraccountname}.shopitsite.com (the same url that appears when you go to Sales Channel > Design > View Store)
  7. Tick Sandbox if you wish to use the test cards given below.
The test gateway is now set up, and you can proceed to your front end website to test a transaction.

NOTE: The payment gateway is not enabled by default. You need to go back into the settings and check the enable box if you want it to appear on the front end website.

Add a Test Shipping Service

Part of the checkout process is to select a Shipping Service, so you need to set one up as follows:

  1. Go to your Sales Channel > Settings
  2. Go to Shipping Services and Add Country
  3. For example, if in the UK, Choose United Kingdom and save
  4. Using the 3 dot menu , Choose Add/Edit Services
  5. Configure a test shipping service scenario e.g. Free Shipping / based on price / 0-99999999 / Price: £0, and Save

Place a Test Order

  1. Visit website1.{youraccountname}.shopitsite.com (or go to Sales Channel > Design > View Store) and proceed to create an order and go to checkout
  2. You should see your Free Delivery test shipping service, select and proceed
  3. At the card options stage, you can choose to place a (fake/test) order that is successful, or unsuccessful - and see what responses are created in both the orders page and the email notifications
  4. Choose from these details:
