Product Types

Shopit lets you sell different types of product which can be classified as follows:

Single

This item has no variation and is a single entity - there is no additional choice for the customer to make.

Examples:
  1. Bouquet of 12 red roses
  2. Black Leather Belt
  3. Star Wars Darth Vader model
Note: Each single item will have a unique SKU.


Variation

To buy this item, the customer needs to make one or more additional choices e.g. colour, size.

Examples:
  1. Parent: Ikea Kallax Shelving Unit
  2. Child Variation: Colour: available in White, Black, Brown
  1. Parent: River Island Non-Iron Office Shirt
  2. First Child Variation: Colour: available in White, Black, Blue, Red
  3. Second Child Variation: Size: available in S, M, L, XL
Note: Shopit allows 5 variations (e.g. colour, size, trim etc) for each product, with unlimited options for each variations (e.g. 32", 34", 36", 38" etc).
Note: Each variation (black in 36") will have a unique SKU and can have a different price and stock quantity. 

When manually adding a Variation with Child Variants, you:
  1. Choose Add Product - Variation
  2. Enter the core details of the overall product (Title, Description, category etc)
  3. Under Product Variations, click the 3 dots submenu and choose Settings
  4. Choose a Variant group e.g. Colour
  5. Add the Variant options with commas separating each one e.g. Blue, Red, Black, White. [N.B. you can sort the options via Sort Variations in the same menu] and Save
  6. Click Add Variation, and choose your options (or combination of options)
  7. Use the Edit button to go to the child variation screen to edit more options (SKU, price, unique image, availability) etc

Note: The options (Neck Sizes, Colours) can be created on the product page itself.

Kit

A Kit is made up of a number of other items, sold as a pack / batch / group. 

Example:

  1. KIT: Pack of Star Wars characters, contains single items:
    1. 1x Darth Vader (single)
    2. 1x Luke Skywalker (single)
    3. 1x Princess Leia (single)
    4. 1x Ewok (single)
  1. KIT: Junior Football Kit Ages 10-12, contains variation products:
    1. 1x Junior Football Shirt (red, small youth)
    2. 1x Junior Football Shorts (white, small youth)
    3. 1x Junior Football Socks (red, small youth)
Note: the Kit itself will have a unique SKU (e.g. KIT123) and contain the individual SKUs of its component parts.
Note: The Kit will have a unique price (it does not have to be an exact sum of the individual prices)
