Google Shopping Product Feed

Google Shopping Product Feed

Google Shopping product feeds can be generated within Shopit for individual Website sales channels (each will need a separate Merchant Center account)

Pushing Products

To configure this you will need to enable it for a sales channel

  1. Within Shopit go to Sales Channels > Chosen Channel > Marketing
  2. Within the "Google Shopping Feed" section, enable, enter a new unique username and password, save the settings
  3. Log into or sign up for Google Merchant Center at https://www.google.com/retail/solutions/merchant-center/
  4. Click "Products" > "Feeds" then create a new Primary feed
  5. Select the "Country of sale" and click continue
  6. Give your feed a name, select "Scheduled fetch" and click continue
  7. Enter any file name and  select required fetch frequency
  8. In "File URL" enter "https://yourwebsite.com/feed/google-product" with the domain replaced with your website domain
  9. Enter the username and password you created in step 2
  10. Click "CREATE FEED"
You may have to wait up to 30 min, after which you will see all of you Active and Purchasable items from that Sales Channel, appear on the Products tab of the Merchant Center

Adding Categories

You can improve the feed by giving your products a Google Shopping Category as well.
  1. In the sales channel, click Categories
  2. Click into a category, and under Category Mapping, click Update under Google Shopping
  3. Sync the Google Categories, then Search for your most relevant one. Click Submit
Google Merchant Center will already attempt to match your products with the most suitable category, so you may not need to complete this stage at first

Further Customisation

The Google Merchant Center itself offers a lot of further opportunities to customise and improve your feed. We automatically map our database fields to those we think best match the GS fields, though if you want to change it you can do so under their Feeds - Feed Rules option.
